BODY PARAGRAPHS:

A body paragraph justifies the “Thesis Statement” by providing relevant examples. It discusses the thesis statement in details. Not connecting your thesis statement with the body paragraphs will only confuse the reader.

While writing the body of your formal essay, you must look back to the thesis statement frequently to make sure you are not giving any contradictory statements. You must remember that that you will just have to include the list of items in your thesis statement that will be deeply discussed in the body paragraphs.

All body paragraphs should be inter-related with each other:

If you write something about any movie just after discussing the weather, what impression will you create? It comes under the heading of common sense that you make sure if all the paragraphs are inter related with each other providing a smooth transition among them.

Formal essay has an appropriate tone:

Tone in the formal essays should be very formal, keeping in mind that your audience will be your teacher and your classmates; you need to maintain a professional diction and tone.

Prohibit the use of “I” in your formal essay:

Make sure you don’t use sentences like “in my opinion…”,” I believe..” etc, this will distract the audience from the main topic and will highlight you. These kinds of sentences also depict an informal tone.
