Do’s and Don’ts of AP Biology Essay

 

While writing biology AP essays, you need to take care of many things in order to get good grades. Let’s now discuss the do’s and don’ts of essay on biology that will help you get good marks in your exams.
Do’s

 

  • Read the essay question of your biology essay carefully at least three to four times unless it is all clear in your head.
  • Outline the answer for your biology essays before actually writing the essay, planning ahead always saves you from additional problems and confusion.
  • Whatever term you are using, make sure to define it in a clear manner.
  • Answer the biology essay questions in an organized way that is being asked in the question.
  • Try to make sure whatever you are writing is understandable and is in easy language.
  • Answer the AP biology essay question in detail but don’t ad extraneous information in it, this will not impress the reader.
  • Write your essay with a black ball point.
  • It is likely that you don’t know all the answers to the question, just relax, exams are made that harder, just try to do your best.
  • You better take a watch with yourself so that you can pace up with the running time.
  • The margins of the essay should be wide enough so that the reader can easily go through the essay.

Don’ts

 

  • Your time is precious so you don’t need to waste your time on extra background information unless you are being asked to.
  • Get straight to the point, don’t just ramble around.
  • Don’t get angry if you haven’t heard the question, just be calm and relax, think if you have ever heard about the topic.
  • Don’t spend extra time on one aspect of the essay, you can always get back to it when you remember something later.
  • Don’t write bunch of words in the margin.
  • Try to answer the question in whatever way, even if you don’t know about the question. Don’t just leave it blank.
  • If you are given a choice, like discuss thermoregulation or humidity then choose the one which you best. Don’t be double minded while choosing.
  • Avoid being sloppy, the reader will eventually miss the important point and you will lose your marks.
  • Avoid the use of pencil or ink pens.
  • Only answer which you are being asked in the question.
